“Purpose is the reason you journey. Passion is the fire that lights the way.” –Author Unknown.
There are many different things in our lives that matter. For some, it is family, and for others, it is their careers. It can even be both. The things that we are passionate about drive us. And as Bishop T.D. Jakes said, if you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion, because it will lead you to the right way.
Passion and purpose often go hand in hand. They are the key ingredients that help us go all-in in our endeavors. That’s why successful businesses are founded on pillars that include those two, namely passion, purpose, people, and, of course, profit.
Gone are the days when profit is what drives businesses. That philosophy will not keep your business afloat in the world we live in today. If you want to succeed, you need to go all-in and really dive deeper into what your business is about, what value it can bring to people, and how long your passion can sustain you to achieve your goals. Profit is a by-product of the three.
Ask yourself these questions:
When you know clearly what the answers to these questions are, it is easy to keep on going from there.
Leading is difficult. It can take a toll on your body, mentally, and emotionally. Without that passion to drive you and a purpose to point you in the right direction, you’ll lose steam quickly.
Lastly, businesses thrive because of people. The main reason your venture is successful is that there are people who need it, want it, and pay for it. But more importantly, there are people working behind the scenes to ensure that you can deliver those products and services to the people who will buy them. It’s all about the people.
When you’ve got both the ability to sustain yourself and how to sustain your people, your customers, and your stakeholders, profit will follow. Strategies, technical skills, and resources are thrown into that mix, but those three (well, four) are really the drivers of your business growth. The rest are tools and methods to get there.
So, what is it that you are passionate about? What is something so valuable to you that you are willing to go all-in to achieve it? Identify it, nurture it, and keep on learning so you are equipped to take it to the next level.
I hope you have a great day! Remember that business is all about relationships, and keep leading with kindness.
